Lehigh Valley Zoo's 25 acres include a selection of 50 species featuring an Outback Adventure Exhibit containing kangaroos, lorikeets and other Australian animals. A petting zoo and pony rides make the zoo popular with children, giving them a place to learn about a number of docile creatures through touch and interaction. Just 13 miles northwest of Allentown, the zoo is surrounded by the 1,000-acre Trexler-Lehigh Count Game preserve where visitors can drive through the area and try to spot herds of bison and elk that populate the area.
